Welcome to the Daylesford Secondary College's Sustainability site.

Live Solar Panel Site

On the left you will find quick links to the main areas in which Daylesford Secondary College is involved in sustainable activities. Scroll through the images to see where they lead.

This site grew out of a project that was started by some Year 9 students in 2007. The students thought that it would be a good idea for the school to be powered by solar energy. As a result of this project the school obtained 2 kW solar panels (you can read more about them in the Solar Section), an Australian Sustainable Schools Initative (AuSSI) Committee was established and this web site was launched.

The AuSSI Committe and the wider Daylesford community will continue the work commenced by these students and this site will grow and change in the future.

The Team

Listen to the team on ABC Radio Ballarat here. They had to be at school before 7 to get there on time!

Some of the organising students with Robert (Spud) Murphy the installer (second from left), the school principal Heather McIntyre (on the left) and local shire representative Heather Mutimer (on the right), who assisted in the launch of the panels.

A big thankyou to Robert (Spud) Murphy and the team at Agnew Solar for installing our panels and more importantly taking the time to interact with the students in the lead up to the installation.

Also a big thankyou to Sustainability Victoria and The Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, without funding from which this project wouldn't have been possible.

Finally, this project couldn't have happened without the assistance of volunteers from the community. If you have some skills or time that you think could benefit the school, we would love to hear from you. Either give us a call at the school, or email us;
