Italian Semester One and/or Two

Year 9 Italian helps you develop real-world communication skills by learning to speak and write about your own experiences in another language. You’ll share ideas and stories while learning how meaning can shift depending on context and culture. By exploring Italian traditions and communities in both Italy and Australia, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and identity. This includes studying the history of Italian and Swiss settlers in the local area, with excursions to places like the Macaroni Factory and Yandoit. Learning Italian connects language with culture, history, and community.
Students are encouraged to choose Italian for both semesters of Year 9, though one semester is possible. At VCE level, students who study a language may qualify for the VCE Baccalaureate if they also meet requirements in English and Mathematics.
